Commodore 64C
The Commodore 64 was launched in August 1982 and went on to become the highest selling computer of all time. The Commodore 64C was a revised version of the original sporting a more modern look to the case and a revised motherboard with lower chip count. This particular C64C has the enhanced video out that supports both composite and S-Video outputs and uses a revised 8580 model SID chip for audio.

An introduction to the Commodore 64
I recently came across a period video on YouTube introducing the Commodore 64 and showcasing its various features and talents. It's an hour and a half long but well worth watching.
Repair/Change history
When I acquired this Commodore 64C, it was fully operational but was in need of a good service and clean as the user port and cassette ports were heavily tarnished and "crusty" and the keyboard was dirty and required a full strip down and clean.
As I determined to use the SID chip in both the C64C and in my recently built BeebSID sound card for the BBC Micro, I replaced the original socket for the SID on the motherboard with a higher quality turned pin variety in order to improve its longevity and reduce any harm that could be caused to the SID chip itself by mounting the SID chip in a second turned pin socket.
The C64C and its SID chip were permanently re-united in January 2012 as I managed to acquire a second SID 8580 chip to live in the BeebSID.
