Econet module fitted to an Acorn BBC A3000

Fitting an Econet module to the Acorn BBC Master or Archimedes is childs play. The module simply presses home into two female header sockets on the motherboard and in the case of the Archimedes, that's it, Econet support is standard.

An Econet module in situ.

As you can see from the photo, the module is located just behind the keyboard header on the motherboard, next to the PSU. The Simtec IDE expansion card is raised above the Econet module by around 5mm but overlaps slightly so would need to be removed before the Econet module could be removed. The Econet module in this shot is an early type module that does not carry the collision detection hardware. In January 2012, the module was replaced with a later type that includes the collision detection hardware and is now the same model as the one fitted to the BBC Master.
